rodeos, and the Ranch Rodeo where local ranches compete against one
another in the Old West tradition.

109th Cowboys' Roundup Days & July 4th Celebration: 6/30-7/4/2012: 7/4/2012: Join us for a breathtaking fireworks display at historic Howelsen Hill
which holds the distinction of being one of the country's oldest ski
areas in continuous use.
32nd Hot Air Balloon Rodeo: 7/7-8/2012: Start your day at Bald Eagle Lake for a spectacular early-morning affair
as you watch over 40 hot air balloons rise softly from the mist and
drift over the Yampa Valley.

Steamboat All Arts Festival: 8/16-19/2012: The Steamboat All Arts Festival is a four-day event that highlights the
amazing arts and culture in the Yampa Valley while featuring
nationally-renowned artists.

Skiing and snowboarding

Steamboat offers world class skiing and snowboarding. Our Champagne Powder is really like nothing else you have experienced. Steamboat Ski Area offers numerous ski trails with almost 3,000 acres of fresh powder to ride on.
Howelsen Hill – in downtown you can enjoy ski jumping, night skiing, tubing, miles of snow shoeing and cross country skiing.
Snowmobiling
Experience the excitement and adventure of miles and miles of trails, surrounding Steamboat Springs.
Watch the breathtaking views that the mountains offers. You'll encounter no crowds on this unbelievable journey into the Rocky Mountains. The only life you'll see on this journey is the native wildlife indigenous to the mountain ranges you'll be gliding over. You'll see things on this tour that have only been seen by a limited number of people who have the spirit of adventure necessary to climb on the back of a snowmobile and follow a guide over peaks and trails not frequently traveled by man. When it's over it will be just one more of the many special memories you'll take home from a vacation in Steamboat Springs.
Snow Tubing
A must-do activity for all ages, head down to Howelsen Hill. Ride the Magic Carpet to the top and come screaming down on a snow tube provided at the hill. There is a special lane for those who wish for a slower ride. Children must be at least 36'' tall.
Snowshoeing
Enjoy the many trails Steamboat Springs offers with your friends. Make sure you choose a sunny day to experience with you friends and family the beauty of Buffalo Pass, Rabbit Ears Pass, Steamboat Ski Resort and Howelsen Hill.
Ice skating
Visit the Olympic –sized Howelsen Ice Arena and enjoy any of the activities it offers, like figure skating and ice hockey. Feel the thrill of the chill!
Sleigh Rides

Elk River Guest Ranch offers an unforgettable experience in the wilderness of Steamboat Springs. Take a sleigh ride to a fireside dinner in a lantern-lit Sioux Indian teepee. Indulge in an evening, filled with excellent food, local musician to dance the night away.
Fishing
Take a day off skiing and head to the river for fly fishing or to one of the lakes surrounding Steamboat Springs for ice fishing. Our local guides will show you the best places for fishing.
Horseback Riding
Enjoy this unique experience, riding through a snow covered trees. Gaze at the Flattops, Sleeping Giant or Saddle back Ranch and you may catch a glimpse of elk or deer. Another must, just outside of Steamboat Springs nestled alongside Hot Springs Creek lies one of the most spectacular mineral springs in the world. Imagine relaxing in 104 degree mineral water while Steamboat’s famous Champagne Powder gently collects in the surrounding forest. Steamboat offers live music performed by local and nationally known music acts such as Lyle Lovett, Big Head Todd & Chris Le Doux. The Steamboat Community Players, offer weekend theatrical performances at the 7th Street Playhouse downtown. If you are a moviegoer, Steamboat has two movie theater complexes, The Chief Plaza Theater located downtown and Wild Horse Theaters, Mid-Mountain.
