History of the Sky Valley Lodge Area in Steamboat Springs
Did you know this secluded lodging community near the Continental Divide was once a well-known tennis center in the 1970s? Athletes indeed came from all over to visit the area and train here. Legend has it that Billie Jean King trained here! Later, this community (and property) transformed, and Sky Valley Lodge hosted guests as a bed and breakfast and ski lodge. Visitors have fond memories of delicious chef-prepared meals at the small restaurant once operated here (formerly known as The Golden Eagle Restaurant). The Hangover Bar was also once part of this property and was known as a popular pit stop halfway down the mountain.
