1. A Much-Needed Wellness Getaway

Stress, stress and more…stress. This has been the theme of 2020. Some of us drank too much. Some of us weren’t able to access our typical gym routine and fell into a pint of Ben and Jerry’s a few nights a week. The struggle of self-care has been very real this year. It’s probably safe to assume that your body is in dire need of some healthy rejuvenation. Traveling in 2021 could lead you to a relaxing vacation filled with hot springs, cozy nights by the fire, morning hikes with tranquil views or adventure filled days on the slopes or biking in the mountains. You'll be happy to give your body some fresh air and healthier habbits. Amidst the chaos this last year has brought, your body and mind have been in overdrive – navigating the news, ever-changing protocols and all the ways in which your life has shifted. Good health is now more important than ever.

2. Flexible Remote Work

Many jobs have transitioned to remote work these days, making travel more flexible. This might mean that waiting around for vacation time to accumulate isn’t a huge factor in your travel plans anymore.

Now’s the perfect time to pack your office and bring it with you for a workcation. Consider booking a long-term getaway where you can spend quality time, while still working remotely. Laps on the slopes at lunch, anyone?

3. Bring Back the Basics

Perhaps getting away in 2021 isn’t going to be that extravagant vacation where your itinerary is full every day. Maybe it will look a little different than it did years prior. But, if this past year taught us anything – it’s that being in the NOW and NOT letting little inconveniences bog you down, is really important. Maybe your getaway

next year is supposed to be simple. That way you can allow yourself to appreciate the basics again. Getting in nature, spending screen-free time with your family or partner, being grateful for your health and using your body and mind to learn new hobbies.

We all remember the days where we could easily go grab a drink at our favorite brewery or enjoy some ski-après after a long day of hitting the slopes. By following state and community guidelines and being flexible with your plans, things will undoubtedly get back to normal in 2021. But, rest assured, the basics will always be available. The great outdoors is OPEN!

4. Booking Prices are Low

Let’s face it, COVID-19 hit a lot of business hard. The travel industry has been no exception. Many essentials that go into travel are going to be less expensive, for now. Vacation rentals, car rentals, airfare and even some activities are more affordable than ever before. It’s a great time to plan your 2021 vacation and save big!

Another valuable incentive for traveling next year is to help support your favorite tourism communities. Steamboat Springs, Colorado is one of the many places supported by tourists! Our economy flourishes when you visit and with 2020 having been such an idle year for travelers, many areas have suffered. We’re ready to welcome everyone back to start doing the things that make life exciting again!

5. Healing & Mental Health

Between the weight of the pandemic, the anxiety of politics, being trapped at home without access to our community and routines and an unsettling worry that this year may never end - most of us have understandably faced some mental health challenges in 2020. Make 2021 the year that you prioritize what is truly most important to your personal goals and interests.

With travel, we can calm our minds and assure ourselves that there are new things to look forward to – from touring a new place to taking in wondrous scenery and discovering new elements that our senses can explore. Traveling promotes happiness by taking our minds off the very real stressors we’ve had to endure. Remember… it’s OK to take a break and practice self-care. Your mind will appreciate the reboot as you heal and you’ll be more prepared for the future.

We recommend trying something new. If you’re planning a visit to Steamboat in 2021, find an activity you’ve never tried before. Give your mind something positive to focus on and that pent up energy will release itself.

6. Travel for the Lost Time in 2020

This past year has been rough. Nationally and globally, the world has faced an extremely trying time. We lost many. Our day-to-day conveniences were all shut down. We’ve been living in a real-life groundhog’s day without much support. But, there have been positives. 2020 gave us an opportunity to develop our sense of

self. We learned resiliency and that we’re stronger than we imagined.

Some of us developed emotionally, spiritually and intellectually in ways we hadn’t before. Many people learned how to be brave, what compassion means and where you can get toilet paper if Target runs out. It honestly hasn’t been ALL bad. Although we wish these lessons could have been realized without so much loss and scare, this year has absolutely made us tougher.

From new hobbies, to a better appreciation of simpler times - we can all leave 2020 ready to move on, but with those lessons under our belts for the future.

7. Colorado is a Top Travel Destination of 2021

The COVID-19 vaccine is coming. 2021 is going to be the year of travel to make up for lost time. Prioritize your touring plans and book early to reserve your 2021 getaway. If you wait too long, you could lose out and have to put off your vacation until 2022 - which may mean dealing with bigger crowds.

Most of us all have been feeling pent-up from a lack of new scenery. Booking early will ensure that you will not compete with other guests who are planning on rescheduling their missed 2020 vacations to next year. Polls are expressing that travelers are planning on getting away within two months of any travel restrictions being lifted. 2021 holds the day where we can safely get back to our normal lives without any restrictions.

So, why wait? Lodging capacity will be limited. Plan ahead!
