After the sun goes down, Steamboat Springs changes character. The outdoor attractions give way to a nightlife scene that adds a whole extra layer to a Colorado trip.
From live music venues and historic pubs to breweries, dance floors, and a genuinely good bowling alley, the options after dark are more varied than most mountain towns of this size.
One practical note before you plan anything: several of Steamboat's best nightlife venues are closed one or more nights a week. That table is below, and it will save you a wasted walk.
The 2026/27 ski season opens Saturday, November 21, 2026, and most venues extend their hours once the mountain is running.

A taste of Louisiana in the Rocky Mountains, and the latest-closing spot in town by a comfortable margin. Cajun-inspired comfort food, a genuinely good muffuletta, and the famous hurricane cocktail, which comes with a two-per-person limit for reasons that become obvious after one.
The interior is quirky and warm, the crowd is heavily local, and the patio right on the Yampa River is the best outdoor seat in Steamboat when weather allows. When everything else has closed and nobody's ready to go home, this is where you end up.
Schmiggity's Live Music & Dance Bar

The name says it: Schmiggity's is where you go to dance. Live music most nights they're open, spanning country, funk, jam, reggae, Latin, and bluegrass, plus karaoke and themed nights.
The sound system and lighting are genuinely better than the room's size suggests, which is why touring acts keep booking it. Check their events calendar before you go, since line dancing and two-stepping nights are not weekly and people turn up expecting them.

An intimate downtown live music venue in the historic Pilot Building, and one of the best rooms in town for actually hearing a band. Small stage, small dance floor, and a crowd that shows up for the music rather than to be seen.
Cocktails are well made and the prices are notably reasonable. The food menu is small, made to order, and better than it needs to be. Free trivia on Tuesdays. The owner is usually there and will introduce himself.

Old Town Pub & Restaurant

Step inside and you're in an early-1900s building with a warm, lived-in feel. Upbeat without being overwhelming, easy for dinner and drinks, and a reliable live music room with Colorado jam-band energy.
The menu leans proudly American: wings, fried pickles, cheese curds, ribs, burgers, and a poutine that gets mentioned by name. Good beer, cider, and cocktail selection, bartenders who know the menu, and regulars who happily talk to visitors. Also the best spot in town to watch a game.
Heads up: the speakers inside run loud.
The Barley Tap & Bar

Around 30 taps, roughly 25 of them Colorado beers, plus wine and spirits. The best beer list in town and the place serious beer people go, with sours, hazies, and hard-to-find releases alongside the local standards.
Relaxed and social, with card games, Jenga, and a rotating calendar of live music, comedy nights, and tap takeovers. Open every night until midnight, which makes it a dependable fallback.
Storm Peak Brewing Company
Main brewery: 1885 Elk River Rd, daily 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Bus Stop Taproom + Kitchen: 2300 Mt Werner Cir Unit C6, daily 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
The main brewery keeps close to 20 beers on tap with seasonal rotations, in a warehouse-style space with community tables, a covered patio, and a rooftop deck. Dog friendly, and you can bring in food from Moe's Original BBQ or the pizza place next door.
New and relevant for ski days: their second location sits at the mountain base next to the Sheraton. The food there goes well beyond bar snacks, with wings, pork belly sliders, chicken schnitzel, and a steak hoagie that gets named repeatedly.
Mountain Tap Brewery

Craft beer and wood-fired pizza with a patio facing Emerald Mountain. Loud in the right way, food out fast, and the beer cheese dip disappears quickly. Trivia on Wednesdays, and in cold weather you can reserve one of the heated outdoor gondola pods.
Something Other Than a Bar
Snow Bowl Steamboat

Twelve modern bowling lanes, a full bar, and food that is surprisingly good for a bowling alley. Weekly live music, plenty of TVs, a big outdoor area, and a pet-friendly policy.
The right answer for a mixed group, a family evening, or a night when nobody wants another bar. Works well for larger parties too.
Steamboat Whiskey Company
1103 Lincoln Ave
Locally distilled whiskey, gin, and vodka with a cocktail program and small plates. Cozy room, patio with sunset views, and a genuine chance of a shot-ski appearing. Founded by a Navy SEAL and his wife, and the staff will tell you the story.
Order the smoked old fashioned, the War Horse Whiskey Mule, or the campfire hot chocolate on a cold night. Hours vary seasonally, so call ahead.
Après Ski at the Base
T Bar
2045 Ski Time Square Dr | Daily 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The self-described five-star dive bar, ski-in ski-out off the Right O Way trail. Cold beer, live music, picnic tables outside, and a view of people coming down the mountain. The crawfish grits have a serious following, and the empanadas and pulled pork tacos are worth ordering.
Note the 5:00 p.m. close. T Bar is your last-run stop, not your evening plan.
Truffle Pig

The upscale option at the base, with a patio, a large fire table, and views over the village. Reportedly the second largest whiskey collection in Colorado, alongside a serious cocktail program and a wine list.
The espresso-rubbed elk loin gets extraordinary reviews. Local's tip: they run a late-night happy hour from 9:00 to 10:00 p.m.
Los Locos

Order inside, eat on the patio, watch the mountain. Regularly named the best après spot at the base by people who have tried all of them. Excellent tacos, strong margaritas, good guacamole, and cookie dough taquitos for dessert.
Slopeside Grill

Ski right in from the slopes in Ski Time Square. Wide beer selection, good cocktails, homemade pizzas and burgers, and loaded fries. Live music some nights, and they handle large groups well.
Check the schedule. Those midweek closures are unusual for a base-area spot and may expand once the season is running.
Getting Home Safely
Steamboat Springs Transit runs a free bus system connecting downtown, the mountain, and the condominiums, and it runs into the late evening. It removes the designated driver question entirely, and it is the single best reason to use the town's nightlife properly rather than nursing one drink.
Staying downtown puts Lincoln Avenue and Yampa Street within walking distance. Staying at the mountain puts the base-area spots at your door and lets you ride the bus down for the late venues.
Planning a Night Out
- Sunday and Monday are quiet. Schmiggity's, the press., and Los Locos are all closed both nights. Sunpie's, Old Town Pub, and The Barley stay open.
- Check calendars for live music. Schmiggity's, the press., Old Town Pub, and Snow Bowl all book acts, and the lineup drives which room is worth being in on a given night.
- Altitude matters. Alcohol hits harder at 6,732 feet, especially on your first night. Pace yourself and drink water between rounds.
