Duskie Grouse Coffee Shop

With more than 15 handcrafted coffee drinks, including lattes, espressos, and Americanos, as well as a selection of iced drinks like smoothies and green juices, Duskie Grouse Coffee Shop is a great coffee spot.

Coffee, music, and community are at the center of their concept, and as soon as you step in, you'll be embraced by a cozy mountain cafe vibe.

It's not all about coffee; they have great food too, including breakfast burritos, freshly baked croissants, muffins, and delicious cookies. The menu also features gluten-free options.

Where does music come in? You can browse their eclectic record selection, featuring a rotation of some of the most memorable albums from the past as well as new releases. They've also got art and local items for sale, supporting the local creative community.

If the weather is nice, you can sit outside to enjoy the views of the ski hills. All in all, a great place to get your coffee fix and a light snack with the bonus of supporting local creativity and entrepreneurship.

Seedhouse Coffee

This locally owned and operated coffee roaster ethically sources its beans from Honduras, Guatemala, Mexico, and Ethiopia, infusing its coffee options with unique flavors and great quality.

For them, coffee making is a craft, and they are very meticulous about highlighting the very best flavor of each bean. For instance, you can taste the blueberry hint in an Ethiopian or the nuttiness of the Peruvian.

They roast their coffee locally and sell wholesale, which means many other coffee shops in the region use their beans. Besides ethical sourcing, they also put a lot of effort into community partnerships and sustainable packaging, all of which makes a difference in modern-day entrepreneurship.  A true hallmark in the flourishing local coffee scene!

Off the Beaten Path Bookstore and Coffeehouse

Trust us: you'll wish this one was your local coffee (and book) shop! Established in the 1990s, and standing the test of time beautifully, Off the Beaten Path Bookstore and Coffeehouse is an independent bookstore serving coffee and locally baked pastries, including muffins, cookies, scones, breads, croissants, and quiches.

You can enjoy traditional options such as Americano, Cafe au Lait, and Cappuccino, as well as specialty lattes. Both the vanilla cinnamon and dark chocolate lavender are big hits! They also let you customize your own drink if you want.

The ambiance is as great as the quality of their service. If you're looking for a quiet spot to relax and want to experience more of what a locally-owned business can offer, make sure to visit this spot.

More than coffee and books, there's also a great selection of greeting cards, games, puzzles, journals, art supplies, and unique gift options.

By the way, they are pleased to serve Seedhouse Coffee, the one we mentioned above, which means more community engagement. The perfect spot to pick up a new book and re-energize for your exploration!

Beard & Braid

Follow the smell of fresh-baked goods and you'll find Beard & Braid. Their coffee cake and quiches are famous in town, all of which are made daily by the owner and her welcoming team.

What's the coffee like? They have a creative menu that includes Cinnamon Toast Latte, Harvest Spice, Hazelnut Mocha, Matcha Latte, and others. The classics, like lattes, are also delicious, especially when you add their homemade syrups.

Whether you're a true coffee enthusiast or just looking for a nice cup of hot chocolate to take a break from the cold, this place is great. The ambiance is up to the match: a warm and inviting environment with airy plants here and there and lots of natural light coming through the big windows. True as they say: a cup of joy and a delightful baked treat!

Causeway Coffee House

With a cozy and rustic ambiance, Causeway Coffee House is one of Steamboat's most loved coffee shops.

This coffee house is locally owned and operated; their service is always warm and friendly and they care about their customers as much as they do about truly good coffee (and coffee vibes!).

The seasonal sopapilla latte — a flavored latte inspired by the traditional sopapilla dessert, which is popular in Mexican cuisine — is simply delicious. And some would be pleased to learn that they also have a variety of boba tea on their menu. No matter what you pick, every item is creative and made with a lot of care.

Oh, by the way, they make all their coffee drinks with locally roasted Seedhouse Coffee mentioned above. We also need to mention their great selection of baked items and pastries, including gluten-free options.

The atmosphere is delightful, offering excellent options for seating. The covered outdoor area is perfect for enjoying the summer weather, and there is also ample seating available indoors.

Riverside Cafe

Want a tip for a local hidden gem? The Riverside Cafe at the Bud Werner Memorial Library. This small independently owned business had the vision to create wholesome and plant-based food for Steamboat Springs residents and visitors.

Every item is made from scratch and with whole food ingredients. Their commitment is to provide their clientele with nutrient-rich snacks and meals that can leave them feeling energized for both outdoor pursuits and their reading endeavors at the library.

As they are big on experimenting in the kitchen and changing things, the menu varies a lot. But the pastry case is usually very worth it, and it includes vegan and gluten-free specials. They also have veggie sandwiches with homemade bread as an option.

The coffee is amazing and served in classic options. They also offer drip decaf if you like the taste of coffee but caffeine is too much for you. The chai and golden milk are also very nice options.

Charming environment, more community vibes, and sustainable eating — what's not to like?
